This Los Angeles pop rock quartet serves up nothing but
THE REALS thing. An addictive sonic cocktail of hook heavy melodies &
Infectious retro riffs that packed a wallop on the bands independent 1999
release, "Three for the Road ". The Reals, founded by lead singer/guitarist
Matt Ferguson, joined by drummer J.C. Morgan, bassist Tony Hebert & Rob
Ahlers on keys , guitars & vocals are ordering another round for 2000
with their upcoming EP ( untitled at press time ).
While playing at a local L.A. nightspot , THE REALS garnered the attention
of the The Rembrandts' Danny Wilde who subsequently sang back up,co-produced
& mixed many new cuts with the band. Wilde helped to hone thier studio
sound on tracks including " Thank you Card ", "She's the One " , " Settle
for less" & Around among others. The Guitar driven " Settle For Less"
visits the lyrical theme of lovesick infatuation in the refrain" I know
I should settle for less / But I want you & more ", While " She's the
One" offers a related lament: ( you ) Start me off slow, then finish with
me fast/ Thought my heart was tough/But yours was built to last/ a Lifetime
". Musically, THE REALS offer a distinctive classic modern hybrid which
echo the influence of such bands as Crowded House, Cheap Trick & the Cars,
and is exemplified on the McCartneyesque " Thank you Card " which features
tone infused guitars textured with layers of harmony & percussion.
THE REALS are currently putting the finishing touches on their latest
recordings with plans to tour the west coast the coming months. Having
their song Thank you Card placed in the WBs hit t.v. series Jack
& Jill its clear the Reals are destined for Success !
